Welcome to another edition of the Friday Show on the Podcast Guide from DailySplice.com. Not only are we fantastic hosts of the worlds best 7 and a half minute podcast about podcasts that releases 3 episodes per week… at least from Canada… or BC… or at least from Victoria, but we are also the guys behind DailySplice.com which is the greatest podcast directory and tool known to mankind. On DailySplice you can put all your favorite podcasts together, so check it out. Here’s what’s on for today:

Tip of the Week:

If you’re thinking about starting a podcast to document your adventures (or misadventures), think about how much content you want to give your audience. I’ve found that I tend to enjoy podcasts that are in the 5-10 minute range. Any longer than that and I lose interest; any shorter, and I feel like I want more. There is some leeway here, of course; some topics just can’t be compressed into 5 or 10 minutes, but those tend to be very niche subjects. Plus, the burden on you as a new podcaster is lessened a lot if you keep it short. Learning how to record, edit, and publish can be a nontrivial task. It’ll take a few months to get the process smoothened out, so make it easy on yourself and your listeners by keeping the amount of content to a comfortable minimum.

Survey Question of the Week:

Where would be the ideal place to listen to your favourite podcasts?

A. At work
B. At home
C. In your car
D. At the gym
E. During lunch or coffee breaks

Genre of the Week: Tech News

Last Wednesday we released an interview with Andy from SDR News. Some other tech news podcasts you may want to check out are:

Thinking about doing a video podcast. If you are, get ready for a learning curve. Knowing what equipment to use is a task in itself, and deciding how to publish your video is an important decision as well. Many people will post their video both in podcast form and on Youtube. Make sure you release your videos as a .M4V file; that way, people with iPods and iTunes can play them. When you upload them to Youtube, they’ll be converted for you. I’ve seen some podcasts release as a Flash video (FLV). Not a good idea.
