CNN In Case You Missed It

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Do you like to sit back and just watch the little unnarrated 5 minute clips of sports highlights every day? There’s something satisfying about just sitting back and watching a roll of raw footage that summarizes the day without some host walking you through it. Well that’s what we’ve got here with CNN’s In Case You Missed it, except its news instead of sports.

Bopst Podcast

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Hello. I just wanted to point y’all in the direction of Bopst Podcast. If you like hearing random retro audio clips and music you really must add this podcast to your favorites on DailySplice. I don’t think you’ll find a more random mix than this. Where they get some of them, I have no idea, but just knowing they existed at one point will make you smile.

Tea Tips with Dr. Tea

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

I recently quit drinking coffee for a variety of reasons. Since then, I have been filling my body’s caffeine demands with tea. I never drank much tea before, and I must say it’s been a welcome change. I had no idea how many different kinds of teas existed. The aptly named Dr. Tea does though. He puts out a very well-done and interesting video podcast that gives details about all kinds of teas and tisanes. He’s a very entertaining and knowledgeable guy, and the content is rich with information, facts, and suggestions about all kinds of teas. I recommend giving this one a watch.

The CNN Daily

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008
Most national broadcasters produce snippets of their programming in podcast form. CNN has jumped on the bandwagon as well. They have a slate of short audio and video podcasts that show the highlights of the day’s news. For example, CNN Daily is a very short video segment that goes over the biggest stories of the day.

Fitness Attack

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

If you want a daily dose of fitness, this is one to add to your favorites. Fitness Attack is one of the best bite sized health shows out there. It makes a perfect little addition to your day’s podcasts!

The Monkey Box

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Last week we did a “sketch comedy” theme. I’m gonna step into the wayback machine and add The Monkey Box, a hilarious video podcast, to that esteemed group. The Monkey Box is comparable to Saturday Night Live or Mad TV, except you won’t want to watch this one with the kids. Many of the sketches are about sex, alcohol or some form of debauchery. Love it. These guys and gals have a great show going over there and have set the scene for other podcasters like them.

Wired Magazine Podcast

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Hi, I’ve been listening to this podcast from Wired Magazine lately and just wanted to share it with you. It’s great! 1 minute long and they release 5 on fridays. They are just little short points of interest. One of the most interesting minutes in podcasting.

The Daily PWN

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I haven’t played many video games since high school, but the recent hubbub around Grand Theft Auto 4 has led me to revisit my favourite childhood pastime. Who knew the industry would become such a money machine. Anyways, enough of my ignorance. If you want to get up to speed and keep up to speed on the latest video game news and reviews, listen to the Daily PWN. (Pronounced own. It’s l33tspeak - don’t ask). It features reviews of the latest games, platforms, and and other subjects in the domain of geekdom. It’s very short - only a few minutes at the most, and the host is clear, concise and obviously enthusiastic about gaming. Computer or console gaming fans simply must check this out.

History According to Bob

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

If you like history, you have got to add History According to Bob to your splice. This guy knows his history, and he offers great little 10-15 minute lectures every single weekday as an audio podcast. It’s easy to listen to, and always interesting. It’s like getting college history lessons for free!

NPR: Science Friday

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Once a science geek always a science geek.  As such, I tend to prefer podcasts that have to do with technology, medicine, astronomy, the environment etc., and the folks at NPR produce a  great one. NPR Science Friday puts out a series of episodes discussing news from subjects under the science umbrella. Recent topics include the latest in HIV research, treatments for blindness, and the average US citizen’s carbon footprint. The podcast’s production is top-notch, and discussions usually involve a panel of experts or talks with scientists in the field. Anyone that wants to keep up with the latest science trends should tune in every Friday.
