Hot for Words Album Art

Ok, here’s something interesting. Possibly the most bookwormy subject you could dig up: etymology. Possibly the hottest host you could dig up: Marina Orlova. Package them together in an RSS feed and you have one of the most brilliant uses for podcasting ever invented. Man or woman, you will not be able to look away while this eastern European beauty tells you in her own ultra-flirtatious way, how words and phrases like “the birds and the bees” or “horny” came from. I dare you to watch just one episode… She’s like a Lay’s potatoe chip, you can’t stop at one no matter how hard you try.

Douchebag Beach

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

douchebag beachHere’s a youtube style soap opera that is worth watching. A story told, 3 minutes at a time, of 3 friends from Jersey on a mission to find real love. You can start at the beginning, or just pick it up wherever and get lost in the storyline which involves thongs and bikini’s, cheep cologne in aerosol cans, and Bahama Mama’s (the local meat market where the guys spend most of their time searching for future wives). This is one of the funniest shows in the youtube soap genre that I’ve ever watched!

P-Dash News

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

p-dash newsAre you loving Ask Blackie and wishing there were more black puppets in the podosphere to answer all your trivia questions? Well, try P-Dash news… just don’t call him a puppet. I’m not sure what Jamal from Ask Blackie would think of Mr. Rajiem Drinkwater… but I’d kind of like to watch a street fight between these two. Jamal’s got the thug thing going for him, but Rajiem’s got a pretty mean temper on him and is built (and sounds) like Mike Tyson.

Tiki Bar TV

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Tiki Bar TVTiki Bar is one of my favorite show’s these days. I got into it years ago, somehow I stumbled across the first episode way back when. But recently I’ve put it in my Splice with the intention of just checking it out for a few days so I could review it, and I can’t stop watching it. I’ve moved it to the top of my list and it’s the first think I look for every day when I get my Splice email. If you’re using the Splice feed emails, be sure to add this in, you won’t regret it!

CNN In Case You Missed It

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Do you like to sit back and just watch the little unnarrated 5 minute clips of sports highlights every day? There’s something satisfying about just sitting back and watching a roll of raw footage that summarizes the day without some host walking you through it. Well that’s what we’ve got here with CNN’s In Case You Missed it, except its news instead of sports.

Bopst Podcast

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Hello. I just wanted to point y’all in the direction of Bopst Podcast. If you like hearing random retro audio clips and music you really must add this podcast to your favorites on DailySplice. I don’t think you’ll find a more random mix than this. Where they get some of them, I have no idea, but just knowing they existed at one point will make you smile.

Tea Tips with Dr. Tea

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

I recently quit drinking coffee for a variety of reasons. Since then, I have been filling my body’s caffeine demands with tea. I never drank much tea before, and I must say it’s been a welcome change. I had no idea how many different kinds of teas existed. The aptly named Dr. Tea does though. He puts out a very well-done and interesting video podcast that gives details about all kinds of teas and tisanes. He’s a very entertaining and knowledgeable guy, and the content is rich with information, facts, and suggestions about all kinds of teas. I recommend giving this one a watch.

The CNN Daily

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008
Most national broadcasters produce snippets of their programming in podcast form. CNN has jumped on the bandwagon as well. They have a slate of short audio and video podcasts that show the highlights of the day’s news. For example, CNN Daily is a very short video segment that goes over the biggest stories of the day.

Fitness Attack

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

If you want a daily dose of fitness, this is one to add to your favorites. Fitness Attack is one of the best bite sized health shows out there. It makes a perfect little addition to your day’s podcasts!

The Monkey Box

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Last week we did a “sketch comedy” theme. I’m gonna step into the wayback machine and add The Monkey Box, a hilarious video podcast, to that esteemed group. The Monkey Box is comparable to Saturday Night Live or Mad TV, except you won’t want to watch this one with the kids. Many of the sketches are about sex, alcohol or some form of debauchery. Love it. These guys and gals have a great show going over there and have set the scene for other podcasters like them.
